How to apply to be Dr. Logan’s Ph.D. student?

• Check the Logan Lab website to see if Dr. Logan is recruiting students (yay, presumably you’ve already done this!)

• Read some of Dr. Logan’s work to see if you have good research alignment. If articles are behind a paywall, you can access Dr. Logan’s Open Access Work Here: ____________

• Review some of Dr. Logan’s projects to see if the research sparks your interest.

• Review the application requirements for Vanderbilt’s Special Education Ph.D.

• Email Dr. Logan to set up a meeting as a prospective student. When applying for a graduate program, it is important to have a good fit between the student, the program, and the advisor. Email using the Prospective Student Interest Email Form as a guideline.

How to join the Logan Lab as a Masters or Undergraduate student?

• Review our current projects to see if the research sparks your interest.
• Email [email protected] with a copy of your CV to ask if we are currently recruiting research assistants.
  • Incoming masters students to the Vanderbilt Special Education department may have funding available.
  • Research opportunities for masters students in all other Vanderbilt departments may be available, but funding is not guaranteed.
  • Undergraduate research credits may be available at Dr. Logan’s discreions.
  • Independent study credits may be available at Dr. Logan’s discretion.
• Common Lab Activities
  • assistance with literature reviews (literature searches, systematic searches, editing references, APA checks)
  • assistance with grant activities (attending meetings, taking notes)
  • assistance with graduate student research (article screening, article extraction and coding)
  • participating in weekly lab meetings, presenting your work to the lab (as applicable)
  • administrative support (grant communications)
• Expected Time Commitment
  • Special Education Masters Students: 20 hours
  • Volunteers: 10-20 hours (to be discussed with Dr. Logan and dependent on lab needs and your own professional development goals!)
