February was a month full of great news for Logan Lab members, and especially for Jessie Wang and Dr. Jeffrey Shero who both accepted jobs! We are so incredibly proud of them!

Jessie has accepted a tenure track role at the University of Florida 🐊 She will be joining the College of Education’s School of Special Education, School Psychology, and Early Childhood Studies as an Assistant Professor of Special Education. In addition to continuing her research, she will be teaching and advising the Special Education PhD and EdD programs. Jessie is so excited to be returning to her alma mater. Go Gators!

Jeffrey has accepted a role with THE Ohio State University Medical Center as a Research Consultant! Jeffrey has been an instructor within the John Glenn College at OSU for multiple semesters, and has taught quantitative classes to undergraduates and graduates, using in-person, hybrid, and fully remote instruction. We are so excited for Jeffrey to accept this new position at his alma mater and continue his innovative research!

Below is the poem composed by Jeffrey describing his feelings about his resignation.

Oh sob! Oh cry! Oh what curious distress!

For I write you today in a state of duress!

Not from peril or plague or some academic blight,

But a change of direction, though all is quite right.

At Vanderbilt’s halls (my home office space),

I puzzled through problems at a methodical pace,

With data and models and code piled up high,

Gorging teas and crumpets to help me get by.

I’ve simulated, I’ve tested, regressed and refined,

Developed new methods and, others, combined.

I’ve stared at the outputs (both hopeful and grim),

Responded to reviewers, no matter how dim.

And though I depart for a path fresh and new,

It’s not for escape (I still quite like you!).

But onward I wander, to wherever I roam,
